Question about Kundalini and mental health
December 4th, 2007
I BELIEVE my Sister is having a premature KUNDALINI experience PLEASE HELP
Like i’ve said i believe my sister is going through a KUNDALINI experience. I HAVE done my research in the matter and found that she fits the profile. I am writing because i do not have the expertise to truly HELP her in this MATTER. WE were worried for her safety so we have put her in a psychiatric ward, but if they do not have the concept of a KUNDALINI experience then how can they help. they are treating her with a “Sigmund Freud” mentality, and not considering the “Carl Jung” possibility that the HUMAN is composed of both PHYSICAL and SPIRITUAL.
PLEASE if you or anyone you Know is in the field of KUNDALINI experiences
Leiva
Dear Leiva,
We’re so sorry to hear of your distress. Not knowing the details, we cannot comment much on this particular case, though perhaps some of our other posts on the Kundalini experience, for example:
Problems with Meditation: Kundalini
Kundalini experiences can destabilize the mind, because the mind is used to traveling in a certain orbit. During a Kundalini experience, the consciousness rides the rising Kundalini energy, rising above the body, emotions, and all that is limited. If the mind is not firmly grounded in the heart, than a disconnect can occur, and the mind can lose its rhythm.
Others have written about a phenomenon called “Kundalini psychosis”.
The antidote to this condition is meditation on the heart. The mind is the surface of the heart, and when the heart is energized, the mind becomes stable and rhythmic. Medication and a structured environment may be helpful in the short term, to stabilize the person. But we believe long-term growth requires the rhythmic stabilization and strengthening of the mind which meditation on the heart provides.
We recommend the water breath, in through the nose, out through the mouth, while feeling the energy fall like rain into the heart on the inhale, and pour forth from the heart on the exhale. Breathe rhythmically, 8 beats in, 8 beats out.
love,
Puran & Susanna
