An Easter Message
March 23rd, 2008
Dear friends,
Easter is a time of great inspiration for all of us as the great celebration of rebirth and renewal.
How can you be reborn and renewed and make rebirth and renewal happen in your life? That is, how can you make real change in yourself that is aligned with your soul, removes the distortions and pain in your being and takes you on the next step toward your purpose? And could this happen not just once and not just on Easter, but continually?
The answer is so simple that people just dismiss it - “It couldn’t be that easy.”
It doesn’t require membership in any organization and it’s not limited to any tradition. No matter what else you believe about spirit, life and the material world, you can still make it work for yourself.
It even works if you don’t believe it will work. But it works better if you understand how it works.
It does require some time - your most valuable resource - but you can recover the time you spend on your rebirth and renewal process through more effective and creative use of time the rest of the day. Plus, the time you spend will be enjoyable and won’t make you sweat.
It won’t take long to learn either, although if you want to learn more about it, you could make a life-long study.
The answer to the question - “How can I create real, transformative change that is aligned with my soul, removes the distortions and pain in my being and takes me on the next step toward my purpose” is to breathe consciously, fully, and rhythmically with your heartbeat. But, you might ask, if breathing, which I do all the time, has such amazing power, why isn’t my life working and why aren’t I becoming who I am designed to be? Because people don’t generally breathe consciously, fully, and rhythmically with their heartbeat; they breathe unconsciously, shallowly, and arrhythmically.
If you want to know why it works, then consider these four principles of what the mystics call “The Science of Breath.”
1. Breathing is the personal experience of the most fundamental process in the universe: expansion and contraction. Every part of the universe is continually expanding and contracting in cycles, some very short and some very long in time, and these cycles are the way the universe “breathes.” Breathing mixes the universe, like the way a heart pumps by squeezing and relaxing.
2. Breath is a flow of all the different forms of energy entwined in one stream. The breath stream circulates through all the levels of reality, sweeping information, light, vibration and energy from one level to the next. As each one of us is a multi-dimensional microcosm of the whole universe, all the levels of reality are within each person. Therefor the stream of breath can carry information, light, vibration and energy from the source of all being all the way to the individual cells of the physical body.
3. In conscious breath, the breath stream is being deliberately operated by a person, representing the whole universe as each person does. That is, each of us is both completely unique in the whole universe and completely a microcosm containing the whole universe. Thus, we each operate the universe in our own way. The way this works with breathing is that the universal flow of information and energy that is breath is passed through the template of each person when that person breathes. That template is the soul. So the breath stream is specialized by passing through the soul, and then it passes through the heart, mind and body to realign those lower levels with the highest level of your self.
4. Finally, the breath stream is modulated by the heartbeat. You can hear this when I whistle a long, constant note. The heartbeat causes a momentary variation in the breath stream that pulsates the sound. In Heart Rhythm Meditation, the breath is a fixed number of heartbeats in length, so the breath carries a harmonic of the heartbeat. This adds to the information already in the breath stream and synchronizes the breath and the physical body. Without the heartbeat in the breath, the breath doesn’t precisely fit the timing requirements of the body. It would be like trying to push a swing without coordinating the pushes to the swing’s timing. With the heartbeat, the information, light, vibration and energy carried in the breath, which now includes the template of the soul, can be transmitted right into your mental and physical structures which are already pulsing at the same rate.
So, dear friends, breathe consciously, fully, and rhythmically with your heartbeat on this Easter Day, and as often as possible on every day, and you will be operating the universal process of creation and renewal, expansion and contraction, alignment and empowerment. This is Heart Rhythm Meditation, and this is why we do it.
Blessings and love to you,
Puran and Susanna
